I've traveled regularly for work over the years and have been packing the bare essentials into a trusty well built little Samsonite overnighter that's managed to last a good 14 years until Thursday night when it popped out on the luggage carousel with an amazing chunk virtually sliced out of it that amazingly left the contents unharmed.
It's
a real shame to see it go as a good piece of luggage is something that
everyone should have and this bag was a beaut that I bought on a trip
to the States, the airline organised for it to be replaced through a
luggage store here in Sydney.
The good experience of this was that there was simply no questions asked by Virgin Blue, as there should not have been, the girl that I spoke to at the airport did all the necessary paperwork - but there was no explanation as to what the cause might have been.
I probably should have taken it on the flight with me as it was the proper IATA cabin bag size, but also had my laptop satchel with me which is large enough and really couldn't have been bothered carrying the two up and down the aisle of a plane.
Anyone else had similar experiences?
